Welcome to the Official ReplicAmp homepage, by Wasit? designs. With the development of WinAmp 1.8 came the new and exciting possibilty of changing the look of your WinAmp face...I was hooked immediately. I was made possible by the creation of "skins"- a group of Bitmap files which define the look of the main face, the buttons, numbers, text, etc, and one text file, viscolor.txt which defines the backgound color of the display.

I began downloading all the skins I could find, mostly at the now-defunct :( Layer 3's WinAmp Mangled page the largest collection of skins on the net, and eventually I ended up with 100Mb less space on my HD and a ton of knowledge and insight. I then began making my own, and since I am a true blue Audio/Video/Hi-Fi/Home Theatre/Dolby Digital/THX/blablabla freak, I decided to emulate my Sony portable MiniDisc player and my Pioneer CD deck.

To use my wonderful :) Skins with WinAmp (1.8 or higher), simply click on the screenshots below to download and then unzip them into your WinAmp/skins folder, making sure the "Keep Folder Names" option is check in the "Extract" window in WinZip. THen, just click on the top left corner of WinAmp, go to "Options", then "Select Skin" and then select the Skin!! And presto, your WinAmp MP3 Player is now a good-looking piece of Hi-Fi equipment!!!

Jan 10 2000- OK OK it's been a while I know. Just to let you know that the Geocities boycott is long gone but I'm settled in at Tripod so here I am. Currently inactive in designing skins, but not for long....

July 6- I moved the page from Geocities to Tripod, in order to protect the integrity of my skins. (see come.to/boycottyahoo for more info).

May 14- Thanks to C. Casey for the Sony ReplicAmp v2.2...since i never got around to making a version 2 of the skin myself, I was more than happy to upload this one for all the Sony fans out there :)

March 25- SimplAmp Chrome v2.0 is OUT! 100% original skin which i'm very proud of, it's got it's own look...Download it now!

March 22- SimplAmp Chrome v2.0 is days away from completion...i think it's my greatest work yet...EVERYTHING is made from scratch on this one, and it's got a look of its own. It should be out before April! :)

Jan 7- Sony ReplicAmp v1.5 is out, no major changes, just improved the outer bevelling and reduced the Sony logo at the bottom right...

Jan 4, 1999- The Pioneer ReplicAmp 2.0 is finally completed and NOW available for download. It's for use with Winamp 2.0 or higher, with matching graphic equalizer and playlist editor. Also released, is the SimplAmp Chrome 1.0. Although not part of the ReplicAmp series, I think you might enjoy it :) Version 2.0 is not far away from completion...
